Work Night Gourmet

Cooking has always played an important role in my life. From learning how to cook at a young age from my talented mom to preparing each year's Christmas dinner with my sister, cooking has always been fun for me. Now as a full-time adult, cooking is still fun but has to be more practical so you're not stuck in the kitchen after your 9-to-5.

The way to practical work night meals is meal planning. The only problem with that practical solution is you end up with the same meal that you'll be munching on all week. Who wants to eat that turkey chili for the fourth time in one week? Most of the time you spend so much on groceries purchasing the random bean or large pack of ground turkey the chili recipe calls for, that you think it's a waste to not eat it until it's gone.

I'm here to tell you that your cooking life doesn't have to be like that. Each week, I scour Pinterest for easy, (mostly) healthy meals that can easily be modified for two to three servings. That way, you have lunch set for a day later in the week! With my handy dandy meal planner sheet, I then plan out the week's meals around my busy schedule. Sometimes I'll even find a store-bought item and dress it up, or make a recipe based off what I have in the kitchen and pantry – I'll make sure to include those notes as well!

Each week will have its own board that will showcase recipes that are paired together and utilize similar ingredients to keep your grocery bill low. There is also a master board compiled of the recipes that were made before Work Night Gourmet was an official deal. Additionally, I've created a tips and tricks board that features a variety of knowledge tidbits I’ve learned over the years.

The funny thing is I won't be trying most recipes until the night I make it, so I'll be experimenting right there with you. That's how this whole thing started – one Instagram story after another of the food I was making posed the question – how did you make that? If I'm already doing a little Pinterest research, why not share it with my fellow hardworking folks?
